About Us
Dock Sud is an “electro tango” band— as its members like to define it— born from the creative minds of Emilio Teubal, Juan Cruz Masotta, and Pablo Pereyra.
The band combines the timeless appeal of traditional Argentine tango with contemporary elements, stemming from the members’ passion for grunge, electronic music, rock, and jazz.
Hailing from Argentina, these talented artists converged in the vibrant and diverse city of New York, where each of them was living at the time. It was in this city, with its myriad musical and cultural influences, and while embracing their own cultural backgrounds, that they forged a unique bond. This connection blends the roots of their "tanguero" heritage with the global influences that surrounded them. This intercultural exploration became the driving force behind their distinctive sound— one that pushes, expands, and transgresses the boundaries of traditional tango without losing its essence.
As a testament to this cultural fusion, Dock Sud premiered their remarkable interpretation of the jazz standard Cry Me a River during their debut at New York City’s renowned Lincoln Center in 2022, performing before an audience of 3,500 people.
Now based in Buenos Aires, where two of the founding members currently reside, the band expanded their lineup to include Gerardo Solnié on drums, Alejo Solla on bass, Rodrigo Nuñez on keyboards, and Alejandro Pereyra & Luciano Groisman on bandoneón. All of them are highly experienced and skilled musicians who have also contributed to the band’s spirit of musical exploration.
